2009 UPDATE:

Thanks to everyone who made yesterday’s race a success! We had a great turnout of athletes and volunteers. Despite morning rain, we had clear skies and sunshine for the run. We were also honored to have Robin Paulsen in attendance and serving as the race starter. The event is named for his daughter, Vicki.

The results are posted on www.sbrunning.org here.

For now, you can see a few snapshots from the race. Also, Santa Barbara Pix was there and took these photos. Per the comment below, they said they’d donate a portion of the proceeds from photo sales to the race’s beneficiary, Special Olympics.

Congrats to the overall winners: Aaron Gillen and Andrea McLarty.

  1. I love the cost! And the cause. However, racing around a track 8 times (is that what we do?) sounds kind of intimidating. AM planning on giving it a try. .

  2. Looking forward to this run, it will be my first one, for the last 5 years I have been out of town that weekend.

  3. Unless I’ve missed something, this is the only proper track and field event on the SBAA calendar. Don’t be intimidated if you haven’t entered before; it’s just like running hot laps – in a pack! Between the Vicki’s 3000, State Street Mile and events like the SBNP half marathon, SB really has an amazing array of local races. We are so lucky and thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to organize them!

  4. We’ll be there taking pictures. We’re happy to donate a portion of our sales to Special Olympics Santa Barbara!

  5. Liz: Thanks for organizing a terrific, well run event.
